Team Speak for VPR
I would like to offer VPR there very own Team Speak. For those of you who do not know what TS (Team Speak) is,here is the lowdown. TS is similar to what Vendetta online uses in group chat when using voice communication;however,it is much more dependable then what VO uses. These are some of the benefits that TS would offer. (1) It would prevent failure of voice chat when bots enter the room during a mission. (2) It allows the user to speak hands free if he/she so chooses(it does allow you to use voice activation key if you want). (3)It seems that TS does not cause lag when used in conjunction with VO,in contrast,to what I have noticed in VOs voice chat system . (4)It allows the user to communicate outside of the game. TS has a tendency to foster friendships due the fact that you can get to know a person better through a more consistent voice chat.TS is really a blast! I hope that you will consider it. P.S. If you have any questions regarding this subject please feel free to ask.If you want to check it out here is the web site.http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads If you down load TS make sure it is the EU-4netplayers.Just a note,TS will not work with out the proper I.P. addresses witch you can get from me. Have lots of fun guys, hope to see ya soon regardless of your decision. Bye! :P |

Actually, what VO uses internally *is* Teamspeak. VO was a testbed for Teamspeak 3.0 and continues to use voice chat based on their technology. That, of course has no bearing on whether we should use an external server for guild chat. I'm unsure as to my opinion on that. |

We usually use Skype for vc if we're not using the in-game system. We're all already set up for that, although we did try TeamSpeak in the past. The issue is that we can't all always use vc though. I like using it, but I can only really do it when I have my apartment to myself, which is rare. |

Re: Team Speak for VPR
I am aware that VOs voice chat is *based* on the team speak program, but that does not make it the same entity. As for skype, well that is a good system, but it is not designed to be a game communication platform. It takes a lot of band with as well as a lot on CPU memory when it is turned on and it can only hold a few players, but TS can hold as many as 200 people. In other words it can greatly hinder game performance :( . I do not know what kind of TS you used strat but you do not have to use voice chat on TS if you don't want or just can't.All you have to do is have a pair of speakers and you can listen into the conversation as well as type. The TS that my buds from DO are offering to you can hold as many as 50 players.I might add that the TS that you guys can use has all ready been paid for. I will admit that my reason for wanting you guys on TS is not only because I think it would enhance yours and my game play but also because the DO community uses TS quit a bit and I was hoping they would see you guys on and become curious about VO. I do hope to convert many DO players to this game being as many of my friends are still there.thay would have a blast if they would just check out VO. |

Darkorbit, a browser-based space MMORPG. I'm fairly content running VO's voicechat program, I never did use for Skype or any of the others so I can't really formulate an opinion on them, however it might get confusing having conversations spanning two games simultaneously with 50 people. Although I think your idea of attracting more people to VO is a good one, it's not really something I'm concerned about atm. If people find VO interesting, they will join. The Vipers don't need to promote the game other than to maintain a good level of integrity. Regarding (1) have you submitted a bug report on this? |
