IMPORTANT: Have you seen the New Rules of conduct in VO?
See the new Rules of Conduct here: https://www.vendetta-online.com/h/conduct.html You might need to refresh your bowser or clear out your cache to see it in the menu on the left. I think the rules are a good idea. Everyone knows where they stand. I do think the current rules are a little harsh, especially the section on harassment. I also think everyone should read through the rules and offer comments and suggestions. I think the rules seem pretty fair. As the devs have said in the first thread, the new rules are not really a change of policy, but more of an expression of existing policy in a legally secure way. Harrassment is more about making a person's life miserable in game, not a character's life. Pirating is not harrassment, griefing is. The difference is subtle at times, but I don't think the new policy is going to cause any problems for most of us. If anything, it will make people more aware of the limits of their freedom to be an anonymous jackass. _________________ Nerde Verde: 9/11/10/11/5 |

Hummm... seems to me to be a defensive move by the devs... and I understand it... I also think that it will be *modified* to fit the situation... and, like Lt, I don't see a problem with it - so far. The devs simply have to cover their backsides... and I especially want to support them where I can... This game is growing... and I want them to be protected... _________________ Never run out of airspeed, altitude, and ideas at the same time... |

It kinda looks to me that there isn't much division between real-life and roleplaying in the RoC. I, personally, think that's fine, because some people just can't figure out the difference between the two, so NV's last point stands very true in this case. Treat those in-game as you would treat them yourself... being a RPing jackass in-game renders the same consequences as being a jackass in real-life... no more hiding behind "I was just role-playing!" Nerde, what to you call what Arolte is doing? Inc says its fine, so... I've stopped playing when he's online as he get me, not my character, worked up with his constant harassment and antagonizing. *sigh* |

Heh, I can sympathize Alamar. Arolte really can be an ass when he wants to. Since he's been UIT most of his career I've never had to deal with it personally but I've seen the tactics he uses. Back before the station guard when station mining and station nuking were possible he would sit outside the station with 10-20 L-mines lined up around the docks so that whoever he was bugging could not physically undock without getting exploded in 1-2 seconds. |
