Hey to all of ya Here is my application to join the Vipers, please consider it (when I last tried to join a guild, they never even got back to me for months and my thread didn't get viewed) My in-game name is Ostan-Be Ralel. I have no evil/pirate alts, honest. I would like to join the Viper Guild because I detest pirates ever so much, (I won't go into the story about when I was constantly killed while trying to get trade levels) and I would like to sting them back and defend others against them, especially new players. I'm with the UIT (Union of Independent Territories) My current license levels are: 6/8/7/9/5 (6 combat, 8 light weapons, 7 heavy weapons, 9 trading, 5 mining) Before I say what my faction standings are, let me say that I know a couple of them are a bit controversial. These will have a * next to them. Itani +797 Admire Serco -943 Hate* UIT +1000 POS TPG +689 Admire BioCom +264 Respect Valent +444 Respect Orion +997 Admire (almost POS, heh) Axia -1000 KOS* Corvus +104 Neutral Tunguska +0 Neutral Aeolus +254 Respect Ineubis -1000 KOS* Xang Xi +5 Neutral Phew... anyway. I'm not exactly sure how long I've been playing, but I'd say about 8-10 months. If you haven't seen me about much, it is because I ran out of subscription for a while. My PvP experience and skill: Experience: I PvP quite a lot Skill: Meh, not great Especially as I lost my mousemat :erm: I heard about Viper because I saw the tag [VPR] on someone *coughstratcough* and I asked him what guild it was, and I got a pretty good explanation that made me want to join up! I play VO almost daily now. I will be on more often on weekends. I come online about 6pm GMT almost every day, and I can be online for as late as 10:30pm - 11:00pm GMT. I live in England, so I use the time zone GMT (London, Lisbon etc.) So that's my application. Hope it's not too long or boring or anything. Thanks for reading! - Ostan |

For now, just keep grouping up with Vipers, and act as if you are one. We'll give you what help we can with what our work entails... But like i said, for now just group and fly with us and we will get to know each other a little better :). I hate to ask, but how did the Axia standing get so low? Ive done the Valent missions tree and it didn't affect my Axia standing that drastically heh Also, work on your Serco standing as well. That is something you will want to have at neutral at least, as we are a neutral guild... otherwise, good application =D -Niut |

OK, my Axia standing is low because this Valent mission said I had to kill some Axia bots. When I went to kill them, my standing lowered by about 100 points then it went to KOS for some reason, not sure why. Also, I have infiltrated Serco space to do some botting until I reach Dislike so I can do bulk procs for them. It's gonna be hard but worth it! -Ostan |

Glad to see you applied, Ostan. Sorry I didn't respond when you logged off today. I went afk. Afterwards. I went to that sector you were botting in and it certainly wasn't optimal. Like I said in-game, I think Atice is good with this whole fixing standing thing, so hopefully he can help you out. Keep on doing what you're doing and the Council will review your application. I don't have much in the way of advice accept this: pick a botting sector only one WH into serco terr, and try to find a sector with few hard bots(though dynamic bot spawns make this hard). If the sector you find starts having hard bots, LEAVE. Also, it might be useful to hire a medic for your journey into serco terr. While VPR has a policy-in-the-making against hiring [EMS], I don't think it's much of a problem at this moment as you are currently an applicant. Once you get -600 standing, time to do bulk procurements!!! The trade system has been re-done since I last had to beef up standing, so the following advice might not be up-to-date. Bulk procurements don't always tell you the closest place to find goods, so feel free to pm a TGFT member, and ask them where the best place to look near your location is (tell them you are a VPR applicant and are trying to raise your standing for us. they should oblige you). Also, bulk procs do not care where the cargo is from... so feel free to stockpile the cargo at the station, take the mission, load the cargo from the station, undock, redock, bulk proc done :). Just keep doing bulk procs (the higher the payout of the proc, the more faction reward you get) until you are done building standing. For the record, I went from Itani -800 to +800 in 5 hours of solid work (I think, you can check the timestamps on my viper application for the actual number). It's harder to do for Serco, as they have turrets at all the entrances (unlike Deneb for the Itani). Good luck with it! okay... I lied: I did have a little more advice than I thought. But this advice is not particular to my knowledge. I've just done this more recently (and more quickly) than many. |

Ok My licenses are now 8/9/7/9/5 (i think) and i accidentally lost 300 xang xi standing by killing "no name" in an XX station. Also, I have been doing patrols around grey space. I have done about 3 from Edras up to Helios. Also, I did a patrol of all UIT space today! Thanks Strat!! Also, me, Atice, Baylen, and a bunch of others (including many pirates) were online earlier and Sedina O-6 was a warzone, you should have been there, it was awesome!! I think I got a lucky shot once and finished Ardella Slane with some Jackhammers, and I found a ship config that works for me. Also, Tunguska standing now +105. Congrats :). By the way, I think the only way to work bad sub-faction standing up from hate is to do deliveries or escorts to their sub-faction stations. Not sure though. |

Only 300 bots to go! Though if you think about it, make a habit of checking stations for Serco bound voys. You only need to make part of the trip with them, and you get generally 2 points per voy. Longer voys can give up to 7 points. Also, if you hit a storm and kill bots, those bots go towards your serco standing. Its a good way to nickel and dime your way up without all the bot grinding, and make a few credits at the same time. Though, Serco or Itani bound voys are rare and become rarer as you use them. I had thought you got faction credit with the dominant sub-faction of a system if you killed bots. Its been a long time since I've had to raise a subfaction, and never from hate on any char. /me is quite lovable. Might be worth testing. Or I may make an alt to confirm or refute this. Also, deliveries don't work below hate, because you have to be able to dock. _________________ Yah - har - fiddle-dee-dee, being a pirate is all right with me! I think they wave that exception if you are on a mission... I can test on Aticephyr and get back to you (I think Xi Xang hates me on it, not sure though). EDIT: just tried it out in the PCC... turns out you wont even be offered missions to deliver to where you are hated, so nix that. |

You can use the list of pirates and pirate guilds on the VPR wiki as a KOS list for now. Also, you should use the "New Members" forum that you have access to for these reports and questions now. |
