Hi all, was chatting with Atice online and decided to check out this guild for VO. - Why do you want to become a Viper? Started my sub a few weeks ago, been looking for a good guild, after talking to Atice in game, decided to come here. I read the Charter and decided this is the type guild I'd like to be part of. - What is your nation? Itani, I liked their backstory plight the most. - What are your license levels? I'm still somewhat a newb, had a UIT character(Tex Brazos) up to 2/2/1/4/2 but decided to start fresh with a new Itani char, currently at 0/0/0/0/0 but will be building him from here on out. - What are your faction standings? default start - How long have you been playing VO? approx 3 weeks - What is your level of experience and proficiency in regards to PvP combat? Have only dueled once...and won ;) - How did you hear about us? saw the name in the VO forum Guild list but learned much more from Atice - How often do you play, what times do you normally play, and what is your time zone? Time zone is Dallas, Tx (CDT or GMT -6) I play during the weekdays from around 7pm to 11pm, sometime very early in the morning around 0500. Weekends early morn and throughout the day. Thanks for considering my app, I'll be browsing the forums here ramping up on the info. |

Hi there Skorteus- First of all, welcome to the game, I'm always glad to see a new player. Work up those license levels by doing the Combat Practice missions, and when you get combat 3, you can do Hive Skirmish missions. You can group up with other VPR's ingame and maybe if we are around and bored we can come level with you. After those licenses levels are up we can do some PvP training and more VPRy stuff. Also see if you can post reports on your doings here on this thread. (If you need an example check out the other application threads) Thanks for the application and I hope to see you ingame soon. |

Hi skorteus, I saw tex online but I didn't know it was you. It'd be a good idea to study the main vo wiki and the vpr wiki so you have a good understanding of things. Thanks for the welcome everyone. I'm pedaling just as fast as I can :p I've got kids in college, one in grade school, full time engineering job, taking a night class myself, fantasy football, watching NFL, watching flash-forward and V, walking the dogs, on and on and on..... I must be a gluten for punishment....but I'm enjoying this game a lot, and will get to 4-cubed just as fast as I can :) |

Not sure if I should keep this question in this thread or start another but here's the scenario: I just graduated from fighting the easily defeatable dentek and artemis collectors to the Tycorp and Fennus R-18 which are considerably harder. In my Revenant MkIII I get chewed up pretty fast...rolling and strafing just seem to make me miss as much as them and the missiles seem pretty ineffective in the heat of battle. In the Warthog I can get a few Tycorp down by mostly zig zagging while in FA mode but I seem to have hit a wall in my effectiveness against them. (I haven't quite figured out the right way to alternate between FA and non FA, but I think I'm getting close) My question is this...what will make me a better combat pilot? , continuing to fight these 2 types in a Rev or Hog or moving into a better ship such as the Anniversary edition Vulture and use 2 plasma cannons,(which I will be test driving today :) Also any tips or techniques I should practice on? Proper use of turbo, rolls and strafe... and FA mode? How is the best way to use missiles? I'm guessing a kiting routine may be more effective... anyway thanks in advance. 2/2/1/1/0 ....about to hit light weapons 3 |

Check out the Vendetta wiki, it has some good information on different bots: http://www.vo-wiki.com/wiki Generally speaking if you do a barrel roll and strafe in the opposite direction they won't hit you unless very close, then just turn off FA and back up. Bots dodging scripts become more aggressive the more you shoot so aim and shoot in short bursts as opposed to trying to hit them with strafes. If they just hang off in the distance taking pots shots hit the brake for a second or two and they will close with you. For xp look for Prosus Assualts, Valent Assualts and Tycorps in that order. Everyone has their fav botting ship, at this point I suggest you use them all. Try different combo's of weapons and then fly what you like. You'll get PvP training from everyone in the guild. All the pilots here have different fighting styles with different ships. When we're online ask each of us a lot of questions about what we fly, the weapons we use and why. That will arm you with some knowledge to decide on your own ships, layouts and style. The wiki also has a lot of information on PvP and some videos as well, while your waiting/working your licenses up to get out into grey and begin PvP it will give you some real good insight. Hope that helps. |

Thanks a ton for the tips...and I'll study the wiki too as suggested. I'm going to focus on the fundamentals for now and tackle PVP training later, besides I have a ways to go on licensing. I wasn't aware of the Prosus and Valents before so I have a better progression now. Thanks again! |

Nice job Skorteus! Now it's time for you to reap the benefits of Boarder Patrol :). That should raise your levels very quickly, especially if you do it in a group (the more people, the higher the rewards)! |

Well I've tried the hive skirmishes and border patrol now and I'm quite discouraged at this point. I'm not able to get more than 1 kill before getting killed myself...pace of combat may be just a bit too fast paced for this old timer...I've tried every ship available to me. Combination of strafing, rolling, and switching between F/A and A/A is a bit overwhelming when 3 vultures are bearing down on me. Guess I'll try to practice a bit more but I dunno.... :/ |

It gets a LOT easier once you have Gauss available to you (and flying a centurion is probably your best bet). For now, make sure you take the mission with other people (will help you earn points even while you die a lot). BP isn't supposed to be easy... but you'll get the hang of it. |

well, tried the BP Centaurions....went thru about 8 of 'em and got 1 kill, lol ...seems like only 2 Vulture missiles will blow them up. Guess I'll go practice on guardians...see if that helps. Can't seem to find anyone online to help with BP so I'll have to try something else for xp |

I think you play at odd times compared to the rest of the guild, Skorteus. If you keep practicing against bots, they will get a lot easier, and you will get better. Just give it some time. |

if you can get gauss, the cents in BP are alot easier try this keep your nose pointed at them and strafe left youll circle them add a little forward thrust every now and again to maintain your distance, they'll have problems hittin you and you can smack em around, if they start to home in on ya,, just throw in a roll or two and change direction as for bots if you fire in short burts (2-3 shots) and wait for them to hit or miss before firing again they dont dodge as much , if you continuiously fire they get proportionately better at dodging also npc ships wont fire if your over 200m from them stay at 201 and you can snipe em all day long |

thanks all for the tips, I'm getting better already. I'm at combat 4 now. I also just realized after finding the combat L3 congrats mission that I'm not paying for the CentBP ship so that takes the sting out of learning. |

good news/bad news....bad news first... is my playtime is going to be very restricted over the next few months because I've just been slammed at work, good news is the reason I'm slammed at work is because I just closed a 1.2 mil dollar deal for my company (wish I could pocket that much, lol) anyway I'll look you guys up whenever I have the chance to log in and play awhile. |
