Viper guild activity inquiry
Hi new player here and I just wanted to know are you guys still active? Nobody was on the channel today and it sounded like it has been like that for a while from what a few people have said. Thanks

Re: Viper guild activity inquiry
Hello, CapShipDriver. We have a few members who still play regularly or semi-regularly, but nowhere near 24/7 in-game coverage or anything like that. However, a lot of other players and guilds monitor and use channel 4357, so just because an actual Viper may not be online, it doesn''t necessarily mean that you won't be able to find anyone else there to help you.

A lot of us still monitor these forums though, so feel free to ask us any questions here and we'll be glad to help in any way we can.

Re: Viper guild activity inquiry
I thought so. Then I want to propose something to you. Before I get into it I want to provide some context. I am a huge fan of the Vipers Guild. I have been on [VPR]pedia since I first found out about VO and I continue to use it as a resource now that I am an active player. My original intent in seeking you guys out was to join the guild. However I guess you guys have moved on so I got a new idea. Here's my proposal. I want to start a new anti-pirate guild in the spirit of the viper guild. I want to use the same methods and tactics you guys used. Also as a tribute to the Viper Guild I want to take over channel 4357 and use it just as you guys did. That being said I want your OK before I do this and obviously I will not use the Viper Guild name. Let me know what you think and any advice you might have for me. Thank you.

Best of luck with your new guild, CapShipDriver. You have our blessing. Just to be clear, although we are not currently accepting applications, we are not disbanding, and several of us still play. Regarding "taking over" channel 4357, you are certainly free to use it, as are any friendly players or guilds. Most people already monitor it, so you'll have a head start, as opposed to if you picked a new unused channel. However, Vipers will still use it too when we're in-game and it will still be our official guild channel.

My advice to you would be to not underestimate the difficulty of starting a new guild, or even of maintaining an established one. It takes a huge investment of time and effort. Don't be discouraged when it isn't immediately successful. It may take several attempts. You will likely find that you frequently have to make decisions between quantity and quality. It's much easier to start a guild with random inexperienced players, and to maintain that guild when you let them all do whatever they want. It's much harder to start a guild with players who share your vision and ideals, and then to maintain it with integrity. This is especially true with an anti-pirate guild because of how difficult a role it is. Pirates are the most difficult and frustrating enemy to have. Not only are they often very skilled, but they are also often trolls. Sometimes it's possible to earn their respect, but not always. They will often hate you and your guild, and they will do everything in their power to make you miserable. Don't be afraid to /leave 100 or to /ignore them if it becomes unbearable. Remember that VO is a game and the most important thing is to have fun. The Vipers have always tried to keep the game as fun as possible, not only for ourselves and our allies, but for our enemies as well.

Feel free to talk to us in-game or here on our forum as often as you want if you ever have any questions, need advice, or just want to keep us updated on how things are going with you and your guild. Good luck, CapShipDriver.
