furballs.
we had some partial good fun tonight. thanks to Duncan and Nerde for making it a blast.

however, after a while, running started, and at that point, a furball turns into "chase the runner" or "gank one guy to see if you can kill him before he runs". I don't think either party appreciates this much.

I don't expect people to be quite as silly as me, as I stayed around in B8 at 30% without ammo until all enemies where killed by teammates, but I would like to avoid seeing Valks at 80% with almost full flare tubes run.

we've all debated this before, pretty soon I'm just going to stop participating at all.

also, after this happend and Arolte started his annoy-people campagin, I went off and killed two UITs travelling in grey instead. :-/

Thanks to Alamar and all other members who participated... I for one had a great time. For a while I think we were going 5v5... it was some pretty intense combat.

As far as running goes, Alamar there was definitely running going on on both sides, I personally chased one or two BLAK members out of b8. Not that it's any reflection on pilot skill or what not... in a furball I think the smart thing to do is put yourself in a position where you can help your teammates as much as possible. If you're alone in B8 and you have four teammates on their way, nothing wrong with beating a strategic retreat so that you can all join up and go in together.

Anyway, thanks Nerde Verde, M.Duncan, QCP46, Asena Tudalis, and all BLAK participants... wouldn't be complete without Rex :P

Re: furballs.
yes, I didnt run. But I did see running on both sides. I agree always to the following:

You pick a fight and u finish it. You kill or you give a kill. No shame in that. Plus its faster than flying back.
So on my watch as Lt. i will remind my group of that.

BUT, if you are vastly out numbered you may as Phaserlight says, retreat until you get backup. From a group battle point of view that is.

And yes Alamar, great fighting tonight, tons of fun, thanks for that. :)

PS* I do not get what Arolte is all about... he seems to jump on opportunities only. Not clear to me what side he is on.

one thing us running when you run out of ammo, another things is to turn tails when you have ammo or energy weapons, just because you might die. it's not the strategic retreats that annoy me either, it is the obvious "I'm going to die, damn" and then run.

tram ran at least once that I saw, being deep in red and out of rockets with two or three VPRs on his butt. at that point, I get it. I also get it if one of you fly a ammo-ship and run, but please, let's try to avoid running simply to avoid giving off a kill.

it's up to you how you wish to fight, but know that I won't participate if I see that kind of action. Gavan logged when people started to run every time they hit red, Myst followed shortly after.

Duncan, you know I have a lot of respect for you in that area. you bring a Wraith in and stick it out. you and Nerde made me come back even when I didn't really want to face more running simply because there are enough good sports that you stick around.

my rule is simple, and is a lot like yours, you stick around until the surrounding furball is over. I don't expect people to take it as far as I do, but there were a few incidents today that really got to me. one was the Valk running at 80% from my deep orange Vult that had been fighting for several minutes, I had 6 rails left and a dual flare + N2 Valk that just came in gets hit once and runs. the other was the Aggresso that ran in a similar situation.

we had people flying from Jallik to Sedina to get back to the fight to bring their preferd layout back. yeah, they left us outnumbered in the meantime, but so what? noone _wins_ a furball in VO, everyone respawns and comes back anyway. the objective should, in my not-so-humble opinion, be to have a darn good fight. and it's when we're down in red, counting the ammo or counting your enemies ammo, the ticker really starts to pump.

everyone can run in VO these days -- well, except me. I can't seem to not stay around, but where is the fun in that? almost cheating death by running from your enemy? bah. stick it out, maybe you turn the tables. heck, Duncan had once of those on me the other night. a great comeback aided by a sloppy Alamar and we got the first flarehit of the fight, suddenly the AGT was there and another flareset. I think I was at like 60-70% and Duncan in deep red, didn't matter, he stuck it out and popped me.

and at least for me, that's the stuff you fight for. that's the stuff you remember when you go to bed after a long VO night.

(edit, fixed typo)

Re: furballs.
I don't think I've ever run even once, I'm always hoping for a come-back. However I don't think anything has irritated me more in the last 6 months of this game than dealing with NEVER ENDING whining about running. NEVER ENDING, IT NEVER ENDS! 8|

If a good time was had in this fight, then just say that. Every fricken opportunity to whine about runners and make idle threats about not playing or killing UIT doesn't need to be taken. It's gotten a bit droll actually.

If you don't stop running I'll do SOMETHING I swear, you frackin runners keep trying to ruin my game and I'll ruin it for ALL. For ALL I say!

Re: furballs.
well, you didn't get to play much with anything fun. Racer wanted to fight SCPs, so I took out an SCP and fought Racer a few dozen times to 20. the current SCP isn't uber anymore, but it's still really good, especially unless your enemy has flares.

in a furball of course, 21K armor and a still semi-agile AGT makes you a killing machine.

anyway, long time no see Seta. =)
